People in Harmony
Facilitating member sessions, strengthening membership engagement and shaping strategy to grow the charity’s reach.

The Project
People in Harmony is a membership charity founded in 1972 for mixed race people, families and couples, working to make sure those experiences are understood and that public services respond to them well. Members currently come together in a monthly space on Zoom, and the charity wants to grow — reaching more mixed race individuals and developing its offer around what they actually need.
My Contribution
My work with the charity spans three connected areas:
- Facilitating member sessions — designing and facilitating online webinars, discussions and interactive events that create thoughtful, well-structured spaces for dialogue on mixed identity, belonging and lived experience. This includes creating session formats that encourage inclusive participation, coordinating speakers and contributors, managing delivery via Zoom and gathering feedback to improve future sessions.
- Membership engagement — helping the charity stay connected with its members and grow its reach in a simple, sustainable way: welcoming new members, responding to enquiries, maintaining member and contact lists, supporting occasional communications, and helping the organisation understand who it is reaching and where the gaps are.
- Strategy — supporting the charity to increase engagement and develop its mission and delivery, so it can support more mixed race individuals and expand its offer based on need.
What Made It Interesting
A charity with fifty years of history has deep expertise and small resources at the same time. The useful work is not starting from scratch, but understanding what already works — the monthly member space, the warmth of the welcome — and building the plan outwards from there, so growth stays people-centred rather than system-heavy.
